I do not remember precisely but sometime in 1992/3, I received a visit from a young man by the name of Roger Richards. Roger had moved to Canada with his family, in, I believe 1990. Even as I write this article I can remember his visit. He introduced himself expressed an interest in viewing my small colony of Spanjaards that included, my foundation pair, at the time both “269” St. Thomas and “753” Deanna. Roger, at the time was about 28 years old and I was 41. Roger already had an eye for goo pigeons and I had 4 youngsters that were out of my “Thomas” in an outdoor aviary on the second floor. Roger fell in love with an almost white child of St. Thomas X Deanna. We never struck a deal that day as I refused to sell that predominately white youngster but the interaction was the beginning of an almost 30 year friendship.
Roger developed an overriding interest in two areas, the first “dogs” and the second “pigeons”. Roger is an exceptionally gifted dog trainer and his expertise in personal protection and security dogs is international. Roger has trained and supplied and continues to train and supply both protection and obedience training and is sought out widely both domestically and internationally for his expertise.
