In the video, he states that the birds were released about 160 km from Guadalajara.
Good evening every one ,Although the 50 mile training toss went very well today , we are still missing birds from today’s toss . Few birds continue to make it back from the 30 mile toss last Saturday . The 40 mile toss was also difficult as they were spread out all day long arriving home . .It is very troubling for us since these birds had flown the 25 mile toss 2 days before the 30 mile toss in a very strong side wind and had arrived very well . We know the birds are in very good health , their droppings are very nice and we made sure they were loft flying well before the training began . It is very puzzling since these birds were rambling up to 1 3/4 hours in the morning . These birds are in good health and we just do not know what to think of why losses are so high . We will continue to road train every good day , but pigeons that arrive late will be rested a day or so before basketed again . We must do this for late arrivals , but must continue on with the birds which are working well . It is becoming to be a very tough year and it will take super birds to continue on to the very end ! Any paid team that does not have a single bird make the 300 mile shipping night will be entitled a free perch fee for a 6 bird team . We wish the best for every one and trying to take as many birds as possible to the end , but we must continue on with training and our training will start to become very intense and we will make sure that every bird here will be in super condition going into the final race.

Good evening every one , The birds were trained from 40 miles today in small groups . The results are up now , we are still learning the system , but spoke to Terry Gilmore tonight and we will try to have it right shortly.

Good evening every one , We think we finally figured out most of the wincompanion system . We now have yesterdays toss on our website live . Thursday the birds trained 25 miles into a headwind and came very well and there was 750 birds home . Yesterday we trained in groups from 30 miles with a nice tail wind and cool weather and had a smash training toss . The first birds were 3 hours coming home and were all coming from the south . They over flew past the loft , Birds were arriving right to dark from the south and many still continue to arrive now, This is very devastating to us and we are heart broken . We would like to believe that the smartest pigeons were smart enough to turn around but we never know how many good ones keep going . We hope that many more will make it back , We will rest the birds for a few days and our 100 mile training race will be delayed . We will update tomorrow again.
– Tony Alves
Good evening every one, The birds have now had 4 tosses at 1 mile ,1 toss at 3 miles , one at 6 miles , and today they were tossed at 10 miles . We tried to get the wincompanion live clocking to show the training toss today ,but were unsuccessful since it is our first time using this system we are still getting used to it . hopefully we will get it right for the next toss which should be tomorrow if the weather is right . The birds are flying now up to one and a half hours every morning and then road tossed after the loft fly . Our training tosses will continue steady every good day and we plan to have the first 100 training race in 2 weeks if the weather remains good for lots of road training .

Good evening everyone, we have been into some pretty extreme heat waves in this part of Canada. We have just started putting on the electronic bands today and should be complete by tomorrow to show the first inventory list. The birds have had the last three training trailer tosses from about 1 mile, just to get the birds used to the trailer. Everything has been pushed back due to the extreme heat wave. The first 100 mile race will definitely be delayed for a week or more. We certainly will not rush in and send pigeons unprepared. As soon as we are done electronic chipping all the birds tomorrow, we will show the first inventory list before we start training further out. The pigeons health are very good and we will continue to do what’s best for the birds. I know there is a lot of people waiting to see the inventory list and we hope to get it up as soon as we can.

Good evening everyone , The weather has been extremely hot and humid , along with record rain falls . The birds continue to fly better everyday and the last few replacement birds are really starting to fly well . We will put out an inventory list before training begins along with live clocking results in the training tosses . There are still a few unpaid teams so please send in your payment right away if you have not done so . Any unpaid teams will be sold to potential buyers .We hope we will start to get into nicer weather as we get closer to our training days , Overall health of the birds is very good and their droppings remain very firm with lots of down feather and the birds are very active , We look forward to a good year and hope the best for every participant . Road training should begin in about 2 weeks.

Good evening every one , the weather has now turned very hot in this part of the country . The birds are loft flying everyday now , except for the replacement birds that came in the last 2 weeks . Although most of the birds look very good , there are still some birds that are experiencing the young bird sickness and develop water in the crop and have to be removed from the loft. This year we had a total of 1200 birds entered from across North America . Please if you have not sent in your payment ,please do so right away as there are always a few people who have to be reminded . We are getting ready to place the electronic bands on the birds and then we can do our first inventory list . Today the birds are on Apple cider vinegar , with fresh garlic cloves , along with vitamins and electrolytes . They will remain on this for the next few days and then they will have a second treatment for canker and then finally a respiratory treatment before training begins. We are very careful to not over do it with medications as to not destroy the birds inner organs , Remember if the livers and kidneys are ruined from too many antibiotics . the birds will loose their natural resistance to diseases and will not be able to complete the tough 9 weeks of racing especially the last 4 races . It will take strong healthy birds to fly this years program and it will not be a crap shoot or lucky birds that will finish near the top in the end. There is some real specimens and class birds entered again this year and competition will be fantastic as we believe we offer the most intense training and race program that brings the winners to the top !!

Good evening everyone ,Hope all is well . We are still waiting on some replacement birds and we will accept replacements to Saturday June 15 th . Although Most teams are doing great , every year there always seems to be some lofts that have trouble adjusting to the environment of so many birds from different sources combining all in one loft . Some birds although arrive fine and healthy looking , soon have trouble with viruses and and bacterias from different birds , while other birds thrive and shine . This is where a strong immune system is so important . Every year there seems to be at least 10% losses to infection of some type or another . This is the ugly side of one loft racing that few dare to talk about !! This is the reality of the game . These numbers are sometimes higher even in our own race lofts where no introduction of new birds even occur . Never the less the strongest and best birds continue to thrive and are the ones of champion calibre . DO NOT ever believe for a minute that all losses are off the roof, often called missing or lost around the loft . We hope to have the rest of the birds out in the next week , except for replacements coming this week . Up to now all else is well and we hope to start training around the middle of July . The summer is calling for normal weather and hopefully not too many crazy hot days.

Good Evening every one , We are just finishing off receiving the rest of the teams to complete the 2013 entries for the CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT RACE . Although we expected a bigger number of entries we never the less broke another Canadian record of entries for 2013 . We continue to be the biggest Prize pay out race in Canada every year for the last 4 years !! There is no pooling at the Canadian International , this is strictly prize money !!Congratulations and thank you to every participant who believed and entered birds and helped in creating the BIGGEST ONE LOFT RACE that Canada has ever seen , 4 years in a row !!! This is great for the sport , it is great for Canada and it is great for all the American Fanciers who like to compete against the Best Canada has to offer !! After all pigeon racing is competition and competition we certainly have !! We also pride ourselves of having the most intense and serious training and 9 race series that will certifiably bring the truly best birds to the top !!! We are serious about racing and we plan to work the birds continuously and constantly through out the season !! Although every one including ourselves would love to see a big number of birds reach the shipping night , the reality is that birds that are truly worked hard and intense do not all make it to the end . Take a look at your own lofts and number at the end of a YB season and the answer is quickly there for you to see . We will finish up dating the win companion list this week with our total number of entries . The first 2 groups of birds are all ready settled and because of their age most are taking to the air like old birds . Over the next few weeks the rest of the later arrivals will be released from the flight aviaries . Owners of lost birds will be contacted for replacement birds giving every one the best chance of having a 6 bird team in competition . Replacement birds will be allowed up to June 15 th. We truly hope you enjoy your experience of having your birds compete in the 2013 CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT RACE.

Good evening every one . Today we had the first 100 training mile race . The birds were released at 8;35 AM , and the first groups arrived at 10;10 AM . They flew very fast and there were almost 300 birds home in 15 minutes out of 345 birds shipped . We are currently training and reconditioning late arrivals from previous tosses and hope to have most of them in the 150 mile race with the main group, which we plan to race this coming Saturday . We have to skip the 110 mile and 125 mile race due to time getting close to the main race . Congratulations to the winning bird entered by Yamicel Loft from Florida winning 1 st place. Also a great race for Flood Lofts clocking in the 5 th and 7 th position . The top ten positions pays $250 Dollars each.

Good evening everyone , the birds were trained 75 miles today , They did very good speeds as their was a very strong tail wind . Unfortunately we had difficulties with our computer and could not show the results . Our 100 mile training race will be flown tomorrow and it should be very fast as we expect a strong tail wind . We will try to release for 8 AM . We have posted an shipping list of all birds that will be in the first 100 mile race . Good Luck to all !!

Good evening every one , We had our first 75 mile training toss today and the birds did very well . The sky was a very nice blue with a few clouds at release . There was very little wind at all and the temperature was cool . All the birds were release together and they cleared very quickly and were gone before we could get in the truck . The birds flew it in 1 hour and 39 minutes . The first 13 birds on the result list were not on this toss , but were released from a shorter distance of 40 miles ,along with a few other birds that had returned late and we are preparing them to get back in with the main group . Todays winning birds were 1 st – Yosvany Ojeda Loft ,, 2 nd – Atlantis Loft ,, and 3rd – Gallo & Medeiros . Congratulations to the first 3 fast trappers !!! Incredibly all first 3 birds were from the Florida area !! The birds will be rested tomorrow and it is calling for rain but they will be trained intensely every good day on . We are hoping to have the first 100 mile MONEY race towards the end of the week . Depending on the weather and how much training we can get in , we might have to skip the 110 and 125 mile race and go directly into the 150 mile race . It is more important that the birds get a 150 and 200 mile race before the 300 mile which is coming up quickly . We will update regularly as we are now getting into the races . Good Luck to all !!

We need to have your activated birds by Friday night , Please leave us your team name and band numbers when you call . It looks like we will not race until the middle of next week sometime as the weather is going to be rough for several more days . As soon as this race is over . we will set a date to distribute birds back to their owners ,

Good evening every one , we will have an updated inventory list tomorrow . We are hoping we get a good number of birds to have a 375 mile race , It looks like a 375 mile race will not be for a least a week from now or more . The weather is looking like all rain into the weekend , We also feel that the birds will need a longer period of rest since many were 2nd day birds from a very tough 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC . We looked back at the wind report for the day the 350 mile was flown and the birds did have winds at times of up to 28 kms or close to 20 miles an hour headwinds !!! That is extreme and definitely no lucky birds can win !It does take super birds to win into headwinds like that.
We are going to set a date after the final 375 so that the breeders can come and pick up their birds . We will also arrange and set a date for all American birds to be shipped back . Birds will only be distributed birds to the owners , unless different arrangements are made . We will keep you informed as we go along . Sorry that we can not answer or return all calls , It has been extremely busy trying to keep up with all the calls , We will try to answer all questions on the diary.

Good afternoon every one, Monday September 17th at 1PM . We have just updated the results and we will update tonight again . There were 3 more birds that clocked last night after we downloaded the results , Incredibly 2 more birds clocked in the dark at less than a minute to 8PM . Even more incredible and rare was the last day bird that clocked in at 11:06 PM !!!!!!! We kept the lights on in the loft all night long and kept the clock running , but never ever expected birds in the dark especially at 11 o’clock at night !!! Although it is very rare ,there have been cases of night flyers which arrive late into the night . It was very exciting to see a bird like that . The birds yesterday were coming in like rockets , right on line and really digging with speed right until they reached the trap , they just kept coming and they continue to pour in this morning . The birds that arrived today still are holding most of their body and are still very alert as if many did not even leave the loft !1 This is what great condition and reserve can do for a bird . It allows a bird to fly all day and still continue on the second day with plenty vitality . We will clock birds until dark again today and then it will take few days to announce the CHAMPION BIRD -CAR WINNER !!!!
There are some interested in a 375 mile race so we will hold another race this weekend coming
– Tony Alves
Good evening everyone , The results are on the site from the 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC . The first birds arrived just short of 9 hours . It has turned out to be a very difficult race into headwinds , We will post more results shortly .

Good morning every one , the birds were released at 8AM in Cochrane, Ontario for the 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC .
The birds cleared very quickly and directly south into a headwind . The weather was very cool at release and is clear all the way through the course . Flying 350 miles into a headwind will be a real test of the birds determination to continue to stay on the wing . It takes real good young birds to arrive out in front with these wind conditions . It should be very interesting to see . Good Luck everyone !!! We will try to post results as soon as possible !!
– Tony Alves
Good evening every one , We have posted the basketing list for the 350 mile CANADIAN GOLD CUP CLASSIC . There were 294 birds from 153 teams shipped . We will try to liberate the birds at 8AM on Sunday Sept. 16 . We will post results as soon as we can . Good Luck to all !!!
– Tony Alves
Good Evening everyone , we have over 260 birds activated into the 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC already . If you still want to activate your birds you have to let us know by Friday . We will start to separate birds Friday afternoon and it will be too late after that to activate birds . So far Sunday is still looking good weather wise . Next year we will come up with a better way of activating birds so it will simplify the process , We have some great ideas for next year that we think you will like . There seems to be some interest to run one extra race of 375 miles after the 350 GOLD CUP CLASSIC . IF you are interested and we get enough interest we will run another race for the fanciers . Please send us an email or leave us a message if you like the idea of having one more race of 375 miles and we might just have another race , and possibly at $50 Dollars per bird and $25 perch fee . Lets us know and it might be a possibility.

Good evening everyone , we have posted a breeders inventory with all birds in the loft . Please check the inventory for all birds here . Please call us or email us with your team name and band numbers of birds you would like to activate into the 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC coming this weekend . Please let us know as soon as possible because we need to separate the birds on Friday that are going in to the race from the birds that are not going .The weather is looking good for Sunday right now with a headwind . Flying 350 miles into a headwind will be a very good test of quality and condition . There are many birds that have just clocked in the middle of the pack on the past races that will come out to win once flown into a headwind . Please do not be discourage by the performance of certain birds if they have not won an early prize in the past races . Some of the best longer distance and headwind birds will come out to show their true breeding in these longer tougher races . Good Luck to all !!
– Tony Alves
Good evening everyone , Today we posted another inventory as more birds have made it back . You can check this latest update for any more of your birds that may have come back . Calls and emails are starting to come in for activation of 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC coming up this weekend . It is important that your birds fly this last race to make points for the best bird that will win the car !! This last race will make the difference and the birds are in good shape . Please call us and leave a phone message with team name and band numbers you would like activated or just send us an email . We need to get all activated birds by Friday night as we must handle every bird and separate all birds that are not going to the race .
This final Gold Cup race will be a real test for the birds as the distance is starting to increase .
So far Sunday is looking like rain in the release area so it is possible that we end up having the race on Monday , We are keeping a close eye on the weather and we will keep you posted .

Good evening every one ,
The Silver Cup Classic final results are up on site . We have posted a total inventory list for all birds in the loft . All the birds that were not entered in to the Silver Cup this past weekend were taken on a 100 mile training toss today from Burks Falls . The first groups arrived in just over 2 hours and a group of 20 birds and a group of 30 birds arrived 3 hours later from the back . These birds obviously over flew ,but returned in great shape and just wanted to fly on this beautiful cool morning. We were not able to have a training result because the clock was still on clocking second day birds from the Silver cup . We trained the birds that stayed home because we want to keep them in perfect shape for this weekends up coming 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC . You can still activate any bird to go into the 350 Gold Cup Classic this coming weekend . The birds are in great shape and many still have a chance to accumulate points for champion bird on this final race . To activate your birds please email us or call and leave a message with your team name and birds numbers and please leave your phone number so we can contact you to confirm , we must contact you if you phone because we missed some very good birds that did not get activated and this is very heart breaking not only for the fancier but also ourselves , as we are trying our hardest to offer the best possible race and we hate to see a super bird being missed for activation . Please remember that a super bird can miss out on a race and still be possible to be best point bird . Many birds that miss early prizes can really surprise you when the distance gets longer or when they are faced with a headwind . If your birds are here and they have hanged on this long ,they are survivors of 1600 birds from all across North America and they deserve the chance to be flown . Activation fees for the Gold cup is $125 per bird and you can activated as many as you like . Hopefully we can get over 400 birds for the GOLD CUP CLASSIC and that would give us $40,000.00 or more in prizes !!!! All birds will be only loft flown from now on and the race will be no earlier than this coming Sunday or next favourable day as Saturday would be too early with only a six day span between races for the birds that flew the 325 . Hope to see you all here on race DAY !!!
– Tony Alves
Good evening every one,
We have posted the results from today’s race . There 240 birds clocked on the day from 289 birds shipped . That is over 80 % return which is very good from 325 miles . Congratulations to the winners . The birds returned in very good condition and they will be perfect for next weeks race of 350 miles for the GOLD CUP CLASSIC .We ask you please to call or email us your activation birds for the 350 mile race . We will continue clocking birds tomorrow as these birds can still gain points for Champion bird !!

Good Afternoon every one,
the results are posted , We had a very fast race with 13 birds arriving together and the birds continue to arrive in groups . We will update later.

Good Morning everyone ,
The birds have been Liberated from Iroquois Falls (325) miles at 8 AM . The birds cleared very quickly and headed south . There is a tail wind so we expect the birds around 2 PM. The birds were in fantastic condition , their muscle was very round and supple with a nice pink coloured flesh and many had very nice large scale , a sure sign of good condition . We handle every bird yesterday before being basketed to pick out all of the activated birds going into the 325 Silver Cup . It was too bad that so many more birds had not been activated as so many of them were in an unbelievable condition that it was heart breaking to have had to keep these birds back . Some of these birds although might have not clocked early from the first 300 mile last week could easily come back to win the next week . Hope fully most will activate their birds for the 350 mile GOLD CUP CLASSIC coming next week . We will train the birds that did not go this week just to keep them perfect for next week . We wish you all the best of luck . We will post the results later as soon as we can . Next year we are going to change our clocking system to a new system so we will be able to have live clocking as we look forward to having the best possible and instant live results .

Good evening everyone. Birds are continuing to return from the race, though the race turned out to be rather hard as far as returns on the day. Birds returning on the second day continue to arrive in very good condition with lots of body. The Wild Cat winners were 3 birds equal first, splitting $6,400.00 for a total of $2,134.00 each! Below are the winners:
1st: CU 18125 – Happy Wanderers – $2,134
1st: CU 11302 – Ferreira Bros – $2,134
1st: AU GALLO 51 – Gallo & Mendez Loft – $2,134
4th: CU 11340 – Walter Sigda – $1,600
8th: CU 16311 – Nicholls Loft – $1,600
66th: CU FN Inv. 488 – Vettese & Chlebowski #2 – $1,280
76th: IF KE 533 – Kolvenbag & Son – $1,280
95th: AU PLACETA 04 – Gallo & Placeta – $1,280
96th: CU FN 487 – Vettese & Chlebowski #1 – $1,280
121st: CU TD 1834 – Guido Madrusan – $1,280
These were the first 10 birds clocked from 64 pigeons that were entered for the Wild Cat Bonus. Congratulations to the winners!
We will put out an inventory list soon showing all birds that are in the loft. Most of the pigeons that return on the second day still look very good to participate this coming weekend in the Silver Cup Classic 325 mile race. We have seen in the past many times where birds that were not early prize winners and birds that return two and three days later come right back to position well in the next race, even when faced with strong head winds. Many times when birds are on the wing for 8 hours or more, they will develop the type of muscles that allow them to come back and have the condition to handle other long hour flights. Certainly you must realize the pigeons need proper diet high in carb and fat seeds with very good vitamin products to bounce back. We are very confident that the birds going into the Silver Cup Classic will have the condition necessary even though the time frame is short between races. We will keep you posted shortly on the upcoming events.

Good evening every one,

The birds were released at 7:00 AM from Sudbury Ontario , about 180 miles , this was just short of 200 miles as had planned for releasing in Marten River but the forecast showed chance of rain there this morning so we decided it was best to go further to the west of Marten River where the weather was clear with a few clouds . We have posted today’s results . Congratulations to the top ten winners !!! We will train the birds a few more times next week and then we wait for the BIG DAY !!! GOOD LUCK
– Tony Alves
Good Evening every one,

– Tony Alves
Good evening everyone.
So far the weather is looking like it will be a go for the 150 mile training race on Monday August 20th, 2012.
Due to being behind schedule in our training races, we are going to skip the second 150 mile training race and we will try to have the 200 mile training race this coming Thursday or Friday if weather permits.
The CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT RACE had a record 268 teams in the 2012 competition with a total prize payout of $147,400.00. All training races payouts will be $200.00 for each bird in the top ten positions.
The prize structure for the final 300 mile race will be as follows:
1st – $25,000.00
2nd – $10,000.00
3rd – $10,000.00
4th – $10,000.00
5th – $10,000.00
6th – $5,000.00
7th – $5,000.00
8th – $5,000.00
9th – $5,000.00
10th – $5,000.00
11th to 40th – $1,000.00
41st to 60th – $500.00
61st to 80th – $200.00
81st to 100th – $150.00
101st to 120th – $125.00
100% of the prize money will be paid out. All prizes paid out in clocking order. In a case where there is a tie those set prizes shall be added together and shared equally. For example like in the case of our first training race where two birds clocked equally on the same second. The TIPES clocking system will award both birds the same prize.
For instance, if the first three birds clocked in at the exact same second, the TIPES clocking system would award all three birds first. So we would add the first three prizes (25,000 + 10,000 +10,000) which is a total of 45,000 and split it three ways with each bird winning 15,000 each. We have been in contact with TIPES in Germany and that is how the TIPES system works. We just want to make everyone aware of how the prizes will be paid out in case of a tie.
Good luck to everyone on the up coming races.

Bred by Silvio Mattacchione in 2006 “Alberta Classic” is an Inbred grand-daughter of “First Edition” (the Sire of Phar Lap). She is an inbred from a brother-sister mating that was tested in the 2006 Alberta Classic ( raced under the name Glenn Shrader) in this 8-race series she was 14th Overall.
Her results at the 2006 Alberta Classic were as follows: 39th,11th,35th,15th,35th,14th, and 23rd in the last race from 682 km.
Her genetic superiority came through as she is the Dam to “15401” called “PROVISION” .”PROVISION” was the 1st Empire Classic flown from 350 miles on Aug 31, 2008.”
“Braveheart” is a direct son of Ajax sold to Taiwan after he won the title of First Sprint Champion of the 2002 Le Tour Des Maritimes. This young bird flew a series of eight races including 500 KM. a portion of which is flown over the ocean.
The Le Tour series of races is the most severe test of young birds in Canada and I have used this race as a testing ground for my breeding program. I have directed my breeding program towards producing exceptional racing pigeons who can excel at series racing including over-the-ocean racing.
The exceptional quality of “Braveheart” can only be appreciated once we know that he flew his 6th race, the 400 km. even though he had canker. He was sent knowing that if he did not race he would be out of the running for the final awards. The 400 took a great toll on “Braveheart” yet 10 days later he flew the 500 km and was 10th thus finishing the series as First Sprint Champion and 26th Overall Champion in the 2002 Le Tour Race.
You will notice that “Braveheart” has all of the same genetic qualities of our great champion “Phar Lap”.
In 2001″Prairie Queen” CU Silvio 2001 -150 flew 4 races in 5 weeks from 150 miles to 525 miles. She was shipped to the Alberta Classic as a 28-day-old squeaker when all the other entries were already ranging. She was entered under the “BC Hospital” as the recipient of all winnings plus her auction sale price!
At 4.5 months old she was 2nd at the 150 mile, Alberta Classic, 21st. at the 200, Alberta Classic, 3rd at the 250 Alberta Classic, and 33rd at the 525 mile homing early morning of the second day. Incredible for such a young hen in a race where all the other birds were about double her age.
She is a half-sister to our Champion Vermouth “21630” who is also the Sire of the famous “ Lopez Unbanded hen” who was the Dam of Ross Vaccaro’s famous “03” hen who was the Dam of “Piza” and “Mona Lisa” and many others.
Her dam is the daughter of “Ace Van Bommel” the 1989 Ace Pigeon Middle Distance of Holland and her dam is the Dam to the Young Hulk 2nd Champion Bird Concourse YB.
The only race that Thomas and I competed in 2004 was “Le Tour des Maritimes” in New Brunswick, Canada. As you can see from the overall results we flew against some of the top flyers in the UP NORTH COMBINE and the rest of Canada with our inbreds and we were 2nd overall (Silvio) and 7th overall (Thomas).
Le Tour des Maritimes is a futurity consisting of a series of 8 races for a total of 2150 km of flying over one of the toughest courses in Canada. One of the goals of the organizer is to provide a schedule of races that would be similar to a normal young bird schedule at the club and combine level. Needless to say, pigeon racing under these circumstances is not a fair sport. The Le Tour will be fair because all the racing pigeons will start and finish at the same points.
The Le Tour series is mainly a headwind course that begins from 100 km and ends with a flight from Glace Bay on Cape Breton Island a distance of 500 km. This must be one of the most difficult release points in Canada. The Cape Bretoners claim that at any one time the winds can blow from all directions across the Island.
During the winter months, winds can exceed 100 km/hour throughout the Cape Briton Highlands. Fortunately, they are not as strong during the summer months, but they still can be a problem. At the release point, unfavorable winds exceeding 20 km/hour can always be expected. If the birds fly home as the “crow flies” they would have to fly over 400 km of open water. This is quite unlikely so by flying along the mainland of Nova Scotia and north through New Brunswick the actual distance the birds fly exceeds 600 km. Just getting off the Island is a challenge. Upon being released in Glace Bay and in addition to unfavorable winds, the birds are confronted by water on all four sides. And as we know pigeons are reluctant to fly over water. Because of this fact, the first 7 races of the Le Tour schedule have been planned to condition and build the birds’ confidence for their final task, that is, reaching home on the day from Glace Bay which remains the ultimate goal of the Le Tour.
“Hello, Silvio
The racing season started 2 weeks ago (June 5, 2005)from a distance of 140km over the water. Today is the second race of the whole 7-consecutive races distance of 170km. Due to heavy rain (extremely bad weather) all day long. there were only 205 pigeons who went home in time (600 mpm limited) basket of 1900 birds, and 3800 birds registered. I entered 20 pigeons in this race but only one bird went home and got 21st place. This bird was also another off a cock I bought from you 3 years ago when paired with a hen out from Herbots brother’s NATIONAAL 1 bloodline. last year the same pair breed one got 406th against 8153 pigeons that I informed you before.
Best regards,
Chu,hsin-an”
“Hi, Silvio
The winter racing season here was over last week. After 7-consecutive races every week there were 1229 birds finished though 8030 birds in the beginning.
I, fortunately, got the place of 19,32,62,88…and so on. I entered 39 pigeons at first. A bird off yours that I bought from you 3 years ago got 406th. I am satisfied with his performances though he did not have high speed but I really like his endurance (because there were 2 babies of yours who had finished such races).
Best regards,
Chu,hsin-an”
“ El Emperador” 5735-DerbyACCDG-21 BBC: Victor Castenada has a friend in Los Angeles named Humberto Franco. When he was visiting Victor in Palm Desert he noticed the 2018 Karges 133 Griz cock that we had gifted to Victor. Humberto asked Victor Castenada if he could borrow the pigeon and Victor loaned it to him. Humberto Franco bred four children from our 2018 KARGES 133.
One of them won 2nd place vs 1,000 pigeons in a big race in Guadalajara; A second one won 9th place in an OLR in Guadalajara and won money; a third one was named “El Emperador” who was 1st place Metropolitan vs 600 competitors; 16 clubs; 14,482 pigeons. He was also 4th Ace Pigeon vs 1950 pigeons after three races in the Viva La Colombofilia Club. He was flown by Eduardo Estrada. Last week on the 3rd OB race he finished 15th, 350km; vs 13,012 pigeons. So out of four babies bred, three were very successful at the very highest level.
Our Grizzle Cock 2018 Karges 133 gifted to Victor Castañeda was mated to a Hen “La Mexicana” which is Andreas Drapa on Mother’s side gifted from Harry Castellanos from La Puente ca, Father’s side is “ Monalisa” from Hector Esquivias (Jalisco Loft) Long Beach Ca.
Also breeding a 4th Avg bird in the 2020 San Diego Holiday, and 2021 in Mexico 615km 38pl vs 4,000 birds. Humberto bred #133 to his hen and together they bred 5735-DerbyACCDG-21 BBC, El Emperado”. He has 1st National Championship pigeons on both sides. Bird of the year on both sides. Totally inbred pigeons on both sides and then crossed out with another Championship line.
Lineage: 5735-DerbyACCDG-21 BBC is a blending of Andreas, Drapa/Karges-Castaneda-Bekaert’s along with Silvio/Karges.

Text of Article from PIPA by Van den Berghe Nicholas follows.
by Van den Berghe Nicholas on 17/04/2013, related fanciers: Janssen Gebroeders
We have learned that the world-famous pigeon fancier Louis Janssen from Arendonk (Belgium) has passed away. Louis died this morning (16 April) at the age of 100. He would have turned 101 on 5 August 2013.
The funeral will be held on 22 April at 11 a.m. in the Onze Lieve Vrouw church in the centre of Arendonk.
The PIPA team and all its visitors wish to extend their deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Louis. We wish them much strength and courage in these difficult times!
Louis Janssen, the last member of the illustrious Janssen pigeon family, has passed away
The death of Louis Jannsen marks the end of a legend. This was probably the greatest success story ever in the long history of pigeon racing!
There is one thing we can all agree on: the Janssen brothers from Arendonk have been the greatest ambassadors of the Belgian racing pigeon worldwide. Fanciers from anywhere in the world have been playing with the famous Janssen pigeons and owe their success to this amazing pigeon breed. There has never been a better pigeon breed than the glorious breed of the brothers from Arendonk. No wonder the loft in Arendonk has turned into a sacred place for many fanciers. Thousands of visitors from all around the globe have paid a visit to the lofts in Schoolstraat 6. The Janssen pigeons were world famous, not only thanks to their own achievements but also thanks to the achievements of thousands of other pigeon fanciers who obtained descendants in Arendonk.
They were mainly successful in the sprint races in the region
Only the brothers knew their pigeons inside out. They knew their pigeon breed like the back of their hand. They knew how to handle their slate blue, clear blue, white-eyed, red-eyed and yellow-eyed pigeons every season again. It was their secret weapon with which they managed to breed a homogenious group of great pigeons year after year. These pigeons have very soft feathers, supple wings and well defined and strong muscles. These pigeons look great and they are generally in great health. These pigeons have everything you need! The Janssen brothers were always limited in space and the number of pigeons that could spend the winter in Arendonk was limited to 80 to 100 birds. In the last few years there were only a few couples left in their loft. Janssen wanted to keep things simple, regardless of their worldwide reputation. They could have grown as much as they wanted but Louis decided not to. He had a few basic values: a small, healthy and good group of great quality. “That is all that matters”, said Louis shortly after he was forced to get rid of his pigeons due to health reasons.
It was not thanks to impressie results in the national long distance races that the Janssen brothers gained their excellent reputation. It was not thanks to a short period in which they dominated the field in the races over 150km that they gained international recognition. Keep in mind that there was no internet back then; there were only a few pigeon magazines that reported about their amazing achievements. However, they knew surprisingly well how to draw the attention to their results. They managed to promote their pigeon breed in the newspapers and many fanciers paid them a visit to have a look at their pigeons or to purchase some of these birds to reinforce their own lofts. Many of these fanciers turned very successful with these birds. Jos Van limpt (aka ‘De Klak) from the nearby town of Reusel, just over the border with The Netherlands, was one of them. Many other fanciers followed in his footsteps. It was only later that fanciers from China, Japan, America and the rest of the world found their way to the lofts in Arendonk. That is when Janssen turned into a world famous pigeon family. They have become world famous thanks to the achievements of thousands of fanciers from Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany etc., who obtained pigeons from the Janssen brothers and with which they were able to breed the greatest champions in races of 1,100 and 1,200km.
Arendonk is synonym to pigeon racing, Arendonk is pigeon racing. This is mainly thanks to Louis Janssen and his companions. They have turned Arendonk and the Schoolstraat into a sacred place for many fanciers. People would do anything to obtain one of these precious pigeons. There was a long list of orders… The descendants of the old ‘Geeloog’, ‘Bange’, ‘Scherpe’, ‘Witoger’, ‘Oude Lichte’, ‘Schone Lichte’, ‘Merckx’, ‘Schouwman’, ‘Raket’, ‘Oude Donkeren’, ‘Oude Vos’, and ‘019’ have conquered the planet; they have turned into iconic Janssen pigeons. They will go down into the history books as illustrous and highly popular pigeons.
The collection of pure sprint racers have turned into a world famous breed. It was partially thanks to the breeding methods based on inbreed and family breeding that these pigeons can be crossed with other lines very easily, without losing their intelligence and their speed. This is what made them so successful in the national long distance races. No one has ever been able to create a bloodline of similar quality. I think we will never see a pigeon breed like this again in the future. Today the achievements and the results of every pigeon are instantly published on the internet and every successful pigeon immediately attracts the attention of wealthy fanciers, especially from abroad. They will not hesitate to purchase our very best pigeons and take them out of their home loft. No one knows if the world famous Janssen brothers would have had the courage to refuse the money and to turn down the offers from rich fanciers as we know them today. Most international fanciers started to take an interest in these pigeons only after they had gained fame in Belgium and in the neighbouring countries Germany and The Netherlands.
Nobody has achieved anything like this! Ludo Claessens came close with his select team of pigeons and his particular vision but a theft put an end to his success story.
Today the Leo Heremans pigeons are probably (almost) in the same class as the Janssen pigeons back then. They are superior in the sprint races (as National Champion KBDB 2010 and 2012), they have a great body and they are easy to cross with other bloodlines, which means they perform very well in the long distance races as well. The big difference is that Leo has been keeping a lot more pigeons in his loft compard to the brothers from Arendonk. In fact Leo will not be able to tweak and improve his pigeon breed for 60 years in a row like the Janssen brothers did!
Louis Janssen was the last member of the most prestigious pigeon family in the world, the Janssen brothers from Arendonk. Pigeon racing in Belgium became world famous thanks to this family and they have promoted Belgium as the birthplace of pigeon racing. We have managed to keep that reputation over the years. Goodbye Louis, thank you for everything!

The following Article was extracted from the YouTube Channel of Omar García Becerril and Moisés Lizarde García called; En el camino de la Colombofilia.
In this our eleventh video we had the fortune to interview Don Mauricio Jemal, which was always the reason for any talk in the media, as it is said that there was a before and an after Jemal.
When Omar and I talked about him and his pigeons, we always ended up excited, for everything that was talked about in the media and we thought of looking for him for an interview, but several people discouraged us to see him, as they told us that to start with he would not receive us because he was from the CDMX, where he left very resentful and several legends about his personality, pigeons, achievements, origin, etc.. Finally we decided to take the risk and not stay with the desire, remember that “we set the limits”, so we looked for a way to contact him and with the nerves at 1000 !!!!! We were pleasantly surprised that he never refused the conversation and neither the interview, so we took the road to Michoacán (Uruapan) to deny so many myths about our excellent host.
I don’t tell you more, I invite you to watch the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the road to pigeon racing” is the name of the channel where we will be uploading videos that at the time we could not publish in the old channel and the name of this refers to a book by American writer Jack Kerouac and his wanderings from New York to the old City of Palaces (CDMX) we will focus on people from different parts of the country, We will be interviewing them along the way, as well as topics related to the exciting world of pigeon racing and its history, so we will see you “ON THE ROAD” with Omar Garcia Becerril and yours truly and comrade Moises Lizarde Garcia.
